DR SARWAR SAYS

  • "A common complaint from patients is the under eye area...hollowness which makes them feel or look tired. If you too feel this, we can provide fantastic results trough dermal filler injections with premium Juvederm Vycross product."

DEFINITION

  • The tear trough is the under eye area located between your upper cheek and your lower eyelid. One of the signs of aging is the loss of volume in the tear trough.
  • Small volumes of dermal filler injections in the under eye area will leave your eyes looking fresher, brighter and rejuvenated, with virtually no downtime. This minimally invasive treatment delivers immediate results that can last for up to 12-18 months.
  • Injecting dermal filler in the tear trough area will restore the volume under your eyes leading to a more youthful appearance by reducing the appearance of hollowness, sunken eyes, puffiness and dark circles.
  • Dermal fillers in the tear trough may also improve the appearance of fine wrinkles under the eye area.

WHO IS IT FOR

SCIENCE

  • The human face loses volume in the cheek area trough the natural ageing process, which can lead to hollowness, puffiness and darkness in the under eye area.
  • Over the age of 25, we lose our natural concentration of hyaluronic acid. Sun exposure or lifestyle choices may accelerate the loss of hyaluronic acid in the face. Dermal filler injections are therefore administered to restore the hyaluronic acid lost in the skin and add volume in desired areas of the face.
  • We only use the ultra premium Juvederm Vycross products. Juvederm dermal fillers are smooth biodegradable non-animal-based products and are absorbed by the body, creating long lasting, natural looking results. The gel-like hyaluronic acid product is particularly smooth, allowing the doctor to create the desired result while providing a comfortable treatment. Juvederm dermal fillers also contain Lidocaine, an ingredient with anaesthetic properties, which reduces any discomfort patients may experience during the treatment.
  • We use premium award winning ultra-thin Japanese needles, resulting in a smoother, less painful and safer experience.
  • The dermal fillers are administered by creating multiple micro-incisions in the desired skin area. At Skin Science Clinic we use premium award winning ultra-thin Japanese needles or cannulas, resulting in a smoother, less painful and safer experience. Based on the doctor’s assessment, a mixture of canula and needles may be used to ensure the best possible results.
  • Dr Adil has performed many tear trough augmentations with remarkable results.

PROCEDURE

  • Your consultation will begin with a friendly discussion with Dr Adil, detailing your past medical and cosmetic history. Dr Adil will use this opportunity to clarify your concerns and treatment goals, and to answer all the questions you may have about the treatment.
  • Dr Adil will take photographs/video and talk trough your facial anatomy. The doctor will analyse the area to be treated and, with the use of a medical pencil, we will draw out the cheek volume loss in the tear trough/under eye area. The doctor will walk you trough the procedure and show you where the product will be administered. You will have the opportunity to see where the product will be injected before the treatment starts.
  • The procedure itself is not painful. Dr Adil will apply a topical anaesthetic cream for a comfortable and painless experience.
  • Tear trough dermal filler injections will be carefully administered in roughly 30 minutes. Dr Adil will place an ice pack on the treated area to minimise redness and possible swelling.
  • Post procedure photographs will be taken for the patient’s records and mineral make up can then be applied.

What causes my fatigue-looking appearance?

As we age, the volume in our faces reduces and, as a result, the skin under the eyes becomes looser. This is due to a loss in the concentration of hyaluronic acid that our bodies produce naturally. Other causes that may accelerate the volume loss in the under-eye area are the exposure to ultraviolet radiations and lifestyle choices. A loss of volume in the cheeks or under the eyes may lead to a fatigue appearance, hollowness, dark circles and eye bags. Dermal fillers are carefully injected in the areas that suffer from volume loss by restoring the hyaluronic acid in the under eye area.

Can the tear trough treatment improve the appearance of under-eye wrinkles?

The tear trough treatment helps reducing the appearance of wrinkles in the under-eye area by adding volume and diminishing the hollowness under the eyes.

Can eye-bags be treated with dermal fillers?

Yes, dermal fillers can help reducing or diminishing the appearance of eye bags if these are caused by the loss of volume in the tear trough area. Dr Adil will assess the cause of the patient’s eye bags during the consultation and recommend the best treatment available.

How long do under eye fillers last?

At Skin Science Clinic we only use the most premium Juvederm Vycross products which create natural, long-lasting results. The under eye dermal filler may last up to 12-18 months. The hyaluronic acid will be reabsorbed, and eventually broken down by the body.

Is the procedure painful?

Patients have reported that the tear trough filler is not painful. The micro needles incisions may create some discomfort for some patients. However, at Skin Science Clinic we only use award winning Japanese needles and cannulas which are the thinnest on the market. This will reduce any discomfort the patient may feel during the treatment. A topical anaesthetic cream will also be administered to numb the area to be treated and reduce any discomfort. The dermal filler itself contains Lidocaine, an ingredient with anaesthetic properties that works in relaxing the area while being treated and therefore reducing or diminishing any discomfort.

How long is the recovery time after a tear trough treatment?

The tear trough treatment is a minimally invasive treatment that deliveres immediate results with virtually no downtime. Some patients may experience minimal swelling and some bruising in the under eye area. However, these will disappear few days following the treatment.

Will I get bruising?

Bruising is not common amongst our patients. However, some patients may experience some bruising, depending on the sensitivity of the skin. Any bruising will however diminish few days following the procedure.

Can I drink alcohol after the tear trough treatment?

Alcohol is not forbidden after the treatment. However, avoiding alcohol for 48 hours after the procedure will help reduce any swelling in the treated area. If alcohol is consumed, we advise patients to drink a large quantity of water to keep hydrated.

How long does it take to see the results?

The tear trough treatment delivers instant results for most of our patients. This is due to the volume being added in the under eye area. Some patients may experience mild swelling, in which case the complete results can be seen within one or two weeks, after the swelling completely disappears.

How soon after the treatment can I use make up?

You may use make up immediately after the treatment. However, we recommend using a mineral based make-up for up to 24 hours after the treatment.
