Freya’s Approach to Customised Hydrafacials
A Refined, Individual Approach to Skin Health
I have always been highly particular about both how I care for my own skin and the standard of results I expect from any treatment
That same attention to detail underpins how I approach every patient. Skin is not static—it responds continuously to internal and external factors—and no two patients present in exactly the same way. For that reason, I do not believe in delivering facials in a fixed or generic format. Each treatment should be carefully assessed and adapted in real time to suit the individual in front of me.
One of the most common questions I am asked is, “Which Hydrafacial should I book?” My answer is always the same: the most effective Hydrafacial is not a preset option, but one that is tailored to your skin on the day of treatment.
For the vast majority of patients, our Signature Hydrafacial is the most appropriate place to start. It is a comprehensive, well-balanced treatment that allows me to address multiple aspects of skin health in a single session, while still adapting each stage based on what your skin needs at that time.
In most cases, patients do not need to overthink the decision—booking the Signature Hydrafacial allows me to assess your skin properly and tailor the treatment accordingly.

A Considered Approach to Every Hydrafacial
At our clinic, no two treatments are delivered in the same way. While the Signature Hydrafacial, combined with Dermalux LED, is suitable for the majority of patients, each stage of the treatment is carefully adjusted to reflect your skin’s condition on the day and your specific treatment goals.
Importantly, our Signature Hydrafacial is designed as a comprehensive treatment rather than a simplified or “entry-level” option. It includes a GlySal peel as standard—an essential step that provides effective resurfacing and enhances overall treatment outcomes. In many clinics, this is offered as an additional upgrade; however, we consider it a fundamental part of achieving consistent, high-quality results and therefore include it as part of every Signature treatment. Where clinically appropriate, the strength of the GlySal peel is also adjusted without additional cost, ensuring the treatment remains both effective and fully tailored.
This advanced facial is designed to cleanse, resurface, and replenish the skin in a controlled, methodical way. It is particularly effective in addressing concerns such as dullness, congestion, dehydration, and uneven texture, while supporting overall skin health and barrier function.
All solutions used within the treatment are sourced directly from Hydrafacial, ensuring consistent, clinical-grade quality and reliability at every stage.

Why I Include the GlySal Peel in Every Hydrafacial
At Skin Science Clinic, I do not view the GlySal peel as an optional add-on—it is a fundamental part of how I deliver a Hydrafacial properly.
The GlySal peel combines glycolic and salicylic acid to provide controlled, effective exfoliation. Glycolic acid works across the surface of the skin to refine texture and improve radiance, while salicylic acid penetrates more deeply into the pores to help break down oil and congestion. This dual approach allows me to address both surface irregularities and underlying build-up in a single step.
In my experience, this stage has a direct impact on the overall outcome of the treatment. By preparing the skin in a more thorough and controlled way, it allows the extraction and hydration phases that follow to work far more effectively. The skin becomes more receptive, and the results are noticeably more consistent.
For this reason, I choose to include the GlySal peel as standard within our Signature Hydrafacial. In many clinics, it is positioned as an upgrade, but I do not feel the treatment is complete without it. Where appropriate, I will also adjust the strength of the peel depending on the patient’s skin at the time—whether that is to keep it gentle for more sensitive skin or to increase intensity for more congested or resilient skin—without treating this as an additional charge.
Ultimately, my approach is always the same: to deliver the most effective treatment for the patient in front of me, rather than working within a fixed or limited protocol.

Why I Use Dermalux LED as Standard
Another important part of how I approach Hydrafacial treatments at Skin Science Clinic is the use of Dermalux Flex LED as standard within our Signature treatment.
While Hydrafacial devices include an integrated LED option, I have chosen not to rely on this. Instead, I use Dermalux Flex because it delivers a higher level of consistency and clinical efficacy, particularly when supporting the skin following controlled exfoliation.
After the GlySal peel and extraction stages, the skin is more receptive but can also be temporarily more sensitive. This is where LED becomes particularly valuable. Dermalux allows me to deliver targeted wavelengths of light to calm inflammation, support the skin barrier, and promote overall skin recovery.
In practice, this means patients not only achieve a more immediate improvement in skin clarity and radiance, but also experience reduced redness and a more balanced, settled result post-treatment.
As with all elements of the Hydrafacial, this is not something I view as an optional upgrade. It is included as part of the Signature treatment because it plays a meaningful role in both the immediate outcome and the overall skin health of the patient.
