MY APPROACH TO BABY BOTOX

I’ve been a doctor for over 15 years, and I’ve been performing Botox treatments both for medical and aesthetic purposes throughout that time. At Skin Science Clinic, I’ve treated thousands of patients looking for soft, barely-there enhancements, and others preferring smoother, more defined results.

Over the years, I’ve sometimes been referred to as the Baby Botox expert in London.

While that label is flattering, I consider myself an expert in both Baby Botox and full-dose aesthetic treatment.some looking for soft, barely-there enhancements, and others preferring smoother, more defined results.

Whether you’re new to Botox or prefer a stronger effect, this blog explains how I approach treatment differently, and why my two-step method achieves natural, long-lasting results that patients travel to experience.

As a doctor who has performed over 10,000 Botox procedures, I’ve refined an approach that blends precision, education, and patient comfort.

While many clinics follow a one-size-fits-all all protocol, my practice is rooted in tailoring every aspect of the treatment to the individual.

This is not generic Baby Botox. This is my Botox philosophy personalised, considered, and results-driven.

What Is Baby Botox and How Does It Differ from Traditional Botox?

Botox is now available in various forms—the original Botox manufactured by Allergan, as well as alternatives like Dysport, Xeomin, and Bocouture. From my experience, the original Botox by Allergan has the best safety profile, offers the most predictable results, and provides the best longevity. It arrives in powder form, to which saline is added, creating a solution for injection. The drug itself is measured in “units”—a form of measurement for the drug, equivalent to, say, centimetres for height. Botox is then injected in different unit amounts across different muscles.

Although I personally prefer Allergan’s original Botox, many other clinics opt for cheaper alternatives due to the higher cost price of the Allergan product. This is a factor that often goes unspoken, but it plays a significant role in treatment planning at some clinics. My commitment has always been to use what I believe gives the best results, regardless of cost.

All of the Botox I use is sourced directly from Healthxchange Pharmacy—the only official UK distributor of Allergan’s original Botox. This is important not only to ensure the authenticity of the drug, but also to guarantee that it has been transported and stored at the correct temperature to preserve its effectiveness.

Baby Botox at Skin Science Clinic London

Baby Botox is prepared using the same technique as traditional Botox—the drug is diluted with saline to form a solution. The key difference lies in the approach to dosage and treatment planning.

Rather than delivering the full dose in a single sitting, I take a two-appointment approach. This is particularly beneficial for patients who are new to Botox or concerned about looking “frozen.” Everyone metabolises the drug differently, so spacing the treatment allows me to personalise the dose safely and conservatively.

After the first round of injections, it takes about two weeks for the full effect to develop. At that point, we’ll have a review appointment—at no additional charge—where we assess the results together. I’ll then top up the treatment if needed to ensure the most natural, balanced outcome.

This gradual approach allows for a subtle transformation in facial movement and expression—something I believe creates the most flattering and durable result.

Many clinics avoid this model, as it requires seeing patients twice. Instead, they often deliver higher doses in one session to avoid the need for follow-up—frequently resulting in an overtreated, frozen look.

In a field crowded with fast, high-volume clinics, I offer a slower, more meticulous approach—something many patients tell me they’re willing to travel across London (and beyond) to experience.

What Does a Natural Result Look Like?

To me, a natural result is one that softens lines and wrinkles while preserving facial movement. The true art lies in achieving a look that is symmetrical, expressive, and long-lasting—without appearing overdone.

“For anyone considering Botox but worried about looking unnatural or overdone, this video offers valuable insight into what a subtle, expertly tailored result can look like.”

One of my patients, Hayley, kindly shared her experience with Baby Botox at Skin Science Clinic. In the video below, she explains why she chose this approach, what the process was like, and shares her before-and-after results.

Tailored Dosing for Every Patient

My approach is all about customisation. While Baby Botox suits those looking for subtle movement, many of my patients request stronger results—and I deliver these just as precisely.

Whether you’re looking for soft natural movement or a completely smooth, frozen finish, I adjust every dose to suit your personal preferences, muscle strength, and treatment history. Higher doses can improve longevity, and I always tailor the approach to align with your goals. There is no additional fee for a stronger dose.

What to Expect at Your Appointments

At your consultation, I’ll walk you through the anatomy of your forehead, often using diagrams or sketches, so you fully understand what’s causing your lines—and how treatment can help.

We’ll discuss the licensed dosages and the exact number of units I recommend for your individual facial structure. The muscles in the upper third of the face vary significantly in both strength and position from person to person, which is why a tailored approach—not a standardised one—is essential for achieving balanced, natural-looking results. I examine each patient carefully, and years of experience have allowed me to rationalise a dose and strategy that suits the individual’s anatomy and goals. You’ll leave your appointment with a clear understanding of the plan, and why each decision was made.

I always encourage questions and believe in educating my patients. The more you understand your facial anatomy and the treatment itself, the more empowered you are to make future aesthetic decisions.

A Focus on Comfort and Safety

Patient comfort is central to my method. I’ve developed three strategies to ensure your treatment is as pain-free and safe as possible:

Appointments are never rushed

I allow extra time so I can inject slowly and precisely. Slower injections reduce pressure on the syringe, which minimises discomfort. It also allows me to avoid small blood vessels and reduce bruising risk.

Strong, bespoke anaesthesia

I use a powerful, custom-made numbing cream—far more effective than standard EMLA. While some may consider this unnecessary for Botox, my patients consistently report that their treatment is virtually pain-free. I’ve trialled this myself and would never go back.

Ultra-thin needles

I use the finest needles available to reduce tissue trauma and discomfort during treatment.

Your Follow-Up Appointment

After your initial treatment, we’ll schedule a second appointment—typically 14 days later. At this review, we’ll assess your results together, and I’ll refine the treatment if needed.

You’ll also be given a direct out-of-hours clinic number in case you have questions or concerns after your visit. This is part of my commitment to comprehensive care.

Although Botox is generally said to last about three months, my two-step method—combined with precise dosing—means that many of my patients enjoy results for 4 to 6 months.

Final Thoughts: Why My Approach Is Different

Ultimately, the difference between traditional Botox and Baby Botox isn’t just about dose—it’s about clinical philosophy. My approach is designed to be careful, thoughtful, and tailored to each face—not rushed, overdone, or one-size-fits-all.

Patients often travel in to see me because they want results that are subtle, natural, or exceptionally precise—and they know they’re in expert hands. Whether you’re completely new to Botox or looking to refine your existing treatment plan, I’d be delighted to welcome you to Skin Science Clinic for a consultation.
