ADVANCED LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT FOR MEN AND WOMEN WITH UNWANTED HAIR

Laser hair removal is one of the most effective methods to achieve a permanent reduction in hair growth. Even after a few treatments, you’ll notice that the hair grows back much thinner, there are fewer ingrown hairs and bumps, and the burden of shaving is reduced.

After just 6–8 sessions, with 4–6 weeks in between each session, around 90% of hair will be gone forever. Laser hair removal is a great investment when you compare it to a lifetime of shaving, waxing, or using hair removal cream.

THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL PROCEDURE

BEFORE:

All patients must have a consultation and skin patch test at least 24 hours before having their first treatment session – the vast majority of people are suitable and can undergo the treatment.

We advise patients to avoid waxing, dying, bleaching or threading their hair before the treatment. We ask patients to shave the treatment area prior to their session. Don’t worry if you miss a few hairs – we can always shave off the rest at the start of the session (please note that you may be charged extra if you do not shave at all) Please note that certain antibiotics can trigger hyperpigmentation.

Contact us for further information prior to your appointment if you are being treated for an infection.

DURING

Our therapist will carry out a thorough consultation and examination of the area to be treated.

The skin will be cleansed and the areas to be targeted are marked with a pencil.

We will set the laser to the appropriate settings for your skin and hair type, and start the treatment.

Depending on your requirements, treatment time can range from five minutes up to an hour for a full-body treatment (the hand-piece that we use has virtually halved treatment times compared to rival machines).

AFTER

Once the treatment is finished, aloe vera gel will be applied to the treatment area to keep it cool.

We will give you general aftercare instructions but you are free to go back to your daily life immediately with no downtime. Skin redness and/or bumpy hair follicles may develop but will subside within 12–24 hours.

If the areas treated will be exposed to sunlight, we encourage patients to apply sunscreen (minimum SPF30) for at least a week.

The medically graded laser safely damages the hair follicle, leading to a reduction in the number of hairs per cm 2 . Once the follicles are destroyed, the hair cannot grow back, so you must be sure that you want to get rid of hair in the desired area permanently. After the initial course of treatments, top-up sessions may be required periodically to maintain the results in the long term.

Patients may see some noticeable results after the first session. Patients generally achieve spectacular results after 6–8 sessions. The machine releases three different wavelengths of energy during each treatment. This results in damage to the hair follicle at three different levels, whereas other machines generally emit just one level of laser. It is, for this reason, we feel the machine is more effective than others and also far less painful.

Everyone will respond to the laser treatment differently depending on a variety of factors, such as hormones, genetics, skin type, hair type and colour. After the initial 6–8 sessions, you may require top-up treatments once or twice per year to maintain the results. If you’ve had laser hair removal in multiple areas, touch-ups may only be required in some areas and will be tailored to your individual needs.

There is no need to be embarrassed about where you would like hair removed. Our team has years of experience with laser treatments for every part of the body. We are here to make you feel as comfortable as possible during the consultation and sessions.

Thanks to our advanced and medically graded laser machine, we are able to treat all skin types, ranging from very fair to very dark. Our machine uses both the Yag 1064nm and Speed 810nm wavelengths that are specifically designed for darker skin types.

You should avoid using sunbeds or tanning under the sun for at least 2 weeks before having laser hair removal as it can increase the chances of experiencing side effects. As the laser machine technology uses the contrast in colour to target the follicle, any additional colour from tanning can affect the results of the laser. If you use a fake tan product, you should avoid applying it to the skin for 7–10 days before the session, and try to wash it off as much as possible the day before the session.

It is ideal to wait 24 hours after the laser treatment session before having a shower as it may irritate the skin and lead to further swelling of the hair follicles. When showering, you should use tepid water and avoid using harsh products, such as exfoliators. You are free to apply light moisturisers or aloe vera gel after the treatment to aid in skin healing. It is preferable to wait several days before shaving so as not to aggregate the skin. Avoid shaving on any skin that is swollen, red/discoloured, or painful.

Laser hair removal using the Soprano Titanium machine is virtually pain-free. This is due to its exclusive applicator. This results in a pain-free procedure for our patients.This technology is suitable for those with dark skin as no area of your skin will be exposed to a single strong “shot”, instead, the SHR warms the skin to the perfect energy level for hair removal without the risk of damage to surrounding areas. It is safe to apply the laser to tanned skin.

Yes, this is a compulsory step in the treatment process to ensure your skin does not suffer from adverse reactions to the laser. The clinic will wait 24 hours before proceeding with the full treatment.

We can help you cover any tattoos with tape, as these areas should be avoided. Tattooed areas are far more likely to burn.
