MOXI Laser Treatment in Central LondonBy Dr Adil Sarwar · MBBS, BSc, MRCGPGMC Registered Doctor — GMC No. 7085079
MOXI is designed to deliver controlled fractional resurfacing with less recovery than more aggressive laser treatments. That does not make it a one-size-fits-all procedure.
At Skin Science Clinic, Freya assesses your skin type, pigmentation pattern, sensitivity, barrier health, recent sun exposure, previous treatments and desired downtime before selecting the most appropriate energy, density and number of passes.
This allows MOXI to be used as a light refresh and maintenance treatment, or more actively for superficial pigmentation, sun damage and rough texture. Where redness, deeper scarring or more advanced resurfacing are the main concerns, Freya may recommend BBL, HALO or another treatment pathway instead.
A precise step between advanced skincare and deeper laser resurfacing. MOXI uses a 1927 nm fractional, non-ablative wavelength to create controlled microscopic treatment zones that stimulate renewal — supporting brighter, smoother and more even-looking skin with manageable downtime.
MOXI targets water within the skin to create precise superficial treatment zones that support renewal of uneven pigment and texture.
MOXI is designed for use across all Fitzpatrick skin types and can be considered year-round, subject to individual assessment and careful UV protection.
Every treatment is planned and performed by Freya and includes the clinic’s bespoke topical anaesthetic protocol, Zimmer cooling and aftercare tailored to your response.
Freya adjusts energy, density and passes according to whether your goal is a light refresh, maintenance or a more active corrective treatment.
From £499
MOXI is particularly suited to patients who want a meaningful improvement in skin clarity and texture without the recovery associated with deeper resurfacing. It can be an excellent first laser treatment, a carefully timed pre-event option, or part of a long-term maintenance programme.
Common treatment goals include superficial pigmentation, sun damage, uneven tone, dullness, rough texture, early signs of ageing and the appearance of enlarged pores.
Patients often choose MOXI because the treatment intensity can be matched to their priorities. Some want a subtle refresh with very little disruption; others want a more active resurfacing session and are comfortable with several days of bronzing and texture.
Choose MOXI alone when the main priorities are superficial pigmentation, texture, radiance and maintenance. Choose BBL + MOXI when redness, visible vessels or selected brown pigment sit alongside texture and overall skin-quality concerns.
A personalised standalone MOXI treatment, adjusted from a light refresh to a more active resurfacing session. Best for superficial pigmentation, sun damage, uneven tone, rough texture, dullness, early signs of ageing and ongoing skin maintenance.
A combined treatment for patients with mixed concerns. BBL addresses visible redness, vascular changes and selected brown pigment; MOXI adds fractional resurfacing for texture, superficial pigmentation and overall skin clarity.
MOXI — £499. BBL + MOXI — £799.

Freya, for continuity, consistency and adjustment of future treatment intensity according to your response.
Superficial pigmentation, sun damage, uneven tone, dullness, rough texture, early signs of ageing, the appearance of enlarged pores and long-term skin maintenance.
Before treatment, Freya reviews your concerns, Fitzpatrick skin type, pigmentation pattern, sensitivity, barrier function, recent UV exposure, medication and procedure history. This is especially important where melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation or darker skin types are involved.
She will decide whether MOXI alone is appropriate and select a treatment level that balances results, comfort and planned downtime. If a concern is better treated with BBL, HALO, RF microneedling or skincare first, this will be discussed honestly.
Before every MOXI treatment, we apply Skin Science Clinic’s bespoke, higher-strength topical anaesthetic and allow time for it to take full effect. Selected for more reliable and consistent numbing than standard laser creams, it helps make treatment noticeably more comfortable.
Effective anaesthesia allows Freya to perform the treatment calmly and precisely, completing the planned overlapping passes at the settings chosen for your skin. Once the anaesthetic has worked, it is fully removed, the skin is cleansed, and protective eyewear is applied. A Zimmer cool-air device is also used during and after treatment to reduce heat sensation and support comfort.
Freya moves the MOXI handpiece evenly across the treatment area in a series of measured passes. The 1927 nm wavelength is absorbed by water in the skin, creating precise micro-coagulation zones in the superficial layers.
Because treatment is fractional, surrounding skin remains untreated and supports recovery. The single-use rolling tip and device feedback support consistent delivery, while Freya monitors the skin throughout.
Establishing effective anaesthesia before this stage helps you remain settled while Freya maintains a steady pace, even overlap and consistent coverage across the treatment area.
MOXI can be adjusted by changing the energy, treatment density and number of passes. A lighter treatment may be selected for glow, early maintenance or reduced downtime; a more active treatment may be chosen for superficial pigmentation, sun damage and rough texture.
Freya adapts the coverage and settings according to how your skin responds rather than treating every patient with a fixed protocol.
Immediately after MOXI, the skin may feel hot and appear pink. Zimmer cooling is used to ease heat, followed by a soothing mask and moisturiser.
Over the next three days, tiny bronzed dots called MENDs may appear and the skin may feel dry or sandpapery. This is part of the renewal process and should be left to flake naturally – do not pick, scrub or exfoliate.
Freya will provide tailored aftercare, including gentle cleansing, regular moisturising, avoiding strenuous exercise and sweating for at least 24 hours, pausing retinoids and acids until the skin has settled, and using daily SPF 50.

MOXI alone is usually chosen when the primary aims are superficial pigmentation, uneven tone, rough texture and long-term maintenance.
BBL + MOXI may be recommended when visible redness, vascular change or selected brown pigment occur alongside textural concerns. The two technologies work in different ways, allowing a broader treatment of tone and texture within one planned appointment.
For deeper or more established textural and ageing concerns, HALO may be more appropriate when a patient is comfortable with greater downtime. Medical-grade skincare and daily SPF remain important for supporting and maintaining every treatment plan.
The most appropriate option depends on your skin, the pattern and depth of the concern, your previous treatment history and the amount of recovery time you can accommodate.
