PHOTOTHERAPY TREATMENT PROCEDURE
The Skin Science Clinic DERMALUX MD LED Phototherapy treatment can be delivered on its own or as an add-on to any of the facials in our treatment menu to receive additional unique and complimentary benefits.
During the stand-alone procedure, you will discuss with our therapist your skin concerns, and receive customised advice based on your skin type and main areas of concern. Our therapist will assess whether one treatment will suffice or whether a course of treatments is more suitable to reach the desired, long-lasting results.
Our therapist will cleanse your face using the most adequate products for your skin type. A pair of protective goggles will be place over your eyes to offer you protection from the powerful light. The DERMALUX canopy will be placed over your skin while you relax for 30 minutes. A SPF 50 cream will be applied by our therapist post-treatment.
Procedure
AFTERCARE FOR PHOTOTHERAPY TREATME
The DERMALUX MD LED Phototherapy treatment is a non-invasive treatment so there is no downtime post-treatment. It is safe to go outside and to apply makeup immediately after the treatment, as long as you wear an SPF 50.
The skin may feel warm and may appear red immediately after treatment, due to the increased blood circulation in the skin. The skin should return to normal within 1 to 2 hours. While rare, temporary headaches immediately following the light treatment may appear but these can be treated with an over-the-counter pain-killer and adequate rehydration.
The effects of the DERMALUX MD LED Phototherapy treatment are visible instantaneously. However, as the treatment promotes the natural skin stimulation process, full results will be visible in up to 6 weeks after the course of the treatment ended.
