FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING DERMAPEN TREATMENT AT SKIN SCIENCE CLINIC

As dermapen is powered by a motor, it benefits from technologically superior, oscillating vertical needling technology. All needles are surgical grade, which produce 1300 micro channels in the skin per second. This has a wonderful effect on collagen and elastic production, as well as allowing penetration of our premium serums into the epidermal skin layer. The treatment is suitable for those seeking an improvement in skin texture, fine lines, acne scarring, stretch marks and enlarged pores.

Dermapen is more popular than laser, predominantly due to the reduced downtime, cost and patient comfort. Lasers have their place, but dermapen micro-needling produces results on par with laser resurfacing treatments. As all of our treatments are performed by a doctor, we are able to utilise the maximum needle depth of 2.5mm

The downtime is dependant upon the depth of the micro needling treatment. At most, the skin may be slightly red for 24-48 hours, female patients can cover this with concealer.

During this procedure there are no direct injections into the skin, but we apply a cocktail of serums which naturally seep into the skin once the micorchannels have been created through the dermapen. These serums include potent skin brightening agents, retinol, and premium Resilient Hyaluronic Acid (RHA), which hydrates the skin by building a barrier and locking in moisture, leaving the skin soft, radiant and glowing. RHA is a premium form of hyaluronic acid which helps to reactivate your skin’s natural mechanisms of deep regeneration: cell renewal and tissue restructuring. The RHA is also combined with powerful antioxidants, amino acids, minerals and vitamin B6 to nourish your skin.

If a patients skin is disease free (no acne or hyper pigmentation), and one is seeking a “skin boost” one treatment will produce fantastic results. Most of our patients opt for a course of treatments however this is not necessary.

We provide all patients with a post procedure serum, which should be applied twice a day for 5-7 days, and strongly advise patients to apply SPF during this period.
